Endorsement of Barack Sought
Dear Mr. Vice President:
I am writing to ask that you follow the examples of Caroline and Edward Kennedy and offer an endorsement of Barack Obama.
The substantive differences between Clinton and Obama are not enormous. However, it is TIME for the torch to pass to a new generation. Obama will do more to heal our understanding of one another at home. He is genuinely a unifying rather than, as it the case with Hillary, a polarizing force. Even more decisive, Barack will do more to restore America’s reputation in the world than will Hillary.
For these — and because Barack is bringing so many young people into the system and asking them to sacrifice — I ask that you lend your voice to the growing chorus of those who are endorsing Obama. And I ask, moreover, that you campaign actively on his behalf.
With respect,
John (Martin)
